Christian Life Center came to us in search of designing, fabricating and installing some new signage with a modern look for their Port Orchard campus. CLC had some dated monument and wayfinding signage, which they were hoping to update. After some initial discussions with our design team they put the trust in us to come up with a new look that would help modernize the look of their entrance signage as well as help visitors find their way through the campus.

Here's a look at the before pictures:

Challenges

Given the dated look of their current signage, CLC wanted to completely move away from their current design and leaned on us to design a new logo that not only fit the look they were going for but also worked well in terms of signage best practices

As we began to pull the sign code in Port Orchard for the monument sign we soon realized that there were some serious sizing restrictions that would limit how big we could go. The town's parameters only allowed us to create a 15 square foot sign, which is really small to work within when trying to create something impactful and that will be noticed by those passing by. But with that being said, our design team was of course up to the challenge of using up every inch of that square footage while also maintaining a creative and modern look for their entrance.

Another issue the CLC kept running into with their current signage was that they were hearing that some visitors were getting a little lost when entering the campus. Visitors weren't exactly sure where to go for areas such as the daycare, school or main auditorium. This is where the updated wayfinding package came to the rescue. A simple solution that sometimes gets overlooked on campuses like the CLC's, which can result in some frustrated visitors.

Sign Specifications

The overall scope of the project was 2 illuminated monument signs, 4 wall displays and a wayfinding package. For the monument signs, the text and the light rays are aluminum faces and routed back to plex. The cross is really unique as it has translucent returns for the light to shine through. Lastly, to finish it off with a nice modern look we anchored it with some exposed concrete. Here's a look at the approved final designs our team created and used for the signage.

The Final Result

The completed sign package provided visitors with a clearer directional layout while establishing an updated modern look for the campus. And although it was a challenge at times, we were able to stick within the strict residential zoning restrictions without having to make sacrifices to the overall look and impact of the signage.

Lastly, a sign project is never a success unless the end result is a happy customer. Here are a few words from the team at CLC sharing appreciation for their new signage!

You and your team have been a tremendous pleasure to work with & we want to again say, “thank you!”  From the first time you met with Virgil to the amazing design work to the install...the professionalism & friendliness of your team & company has been absolutely wonderful.  Thank you again & please let everyone involved know how excited and happy we are.
